My future like a vet

If someone ask me about my ideal job. Where would I like to work?, What area?, Who would I like to work with? I would answer after to think a little…
I would like to work with horses, but I not sure what area… might be in the area of reproduction. In that case I would like to work some time in Chile with Dr Hugo Schmeisser, who works in the area of equine reproduction in different parts of the country, to learn more about it. Then I would like to go abroad, may be Argentina or Europe.
This job would make me happy because I love horses and I have been involved with them always and what better that help and see these lovely animals to have family.
With respect to having a boss or not, I think that is not really important for me, first because I have good relationship with people and second I just wanna make happy all horses that I have to care.
In relation to working hours, I would like to have a flexible schedule and have the weekend off.
For now I just have to study and let see in a few years...

My favorite subject

Mmm…Which could be my favorite subject?
I think that is not a difficult question, because we have few subject and some of them are: chemistry, I like but not to much, because it´s too difficult; maths I don´t really like it; english,
orientation to the veterinary medicine and animal diversity I like it!

Animal diversity also called zoology it is my favorite subject, because in this subject we see all animals from most little invertebrates to mammals. We see all their features: internal and external morphology, and many other things. Also we not only have theoretical lessons, but we also have labs on Friday afternoon and we can explore and experiment what we seen in class. There we had opened mollusks, fish, echinoderms, etcetera.

In summary I like zoology, first because it is the subject where we have more contact with animals, actually we can touch them and it is easier to learn and second I feel like a real student
of veterinary.

The person that I admire

I don´t admire any famous person related with the career. But I admire my mom.
She started to study veterinary in Austral University, being so far from her home in Quillota and and connectivity in those years was not like today.

Few years later she moved from Valdivia to Santiago to finish the career in University of Chile.  Patiently she had to take courses from first year, because they University didn`t past off all subject, so she had to study more years than she ought.

After she graduated in 1992 she did some masters about horses and also she did some course to be a teacher of horsemanship.

I admire her not necessarily because she is my mom, but I admire her because she is a very courageous, passionate, feisty, patient woman, but above all she loves what she does and she doesn´t do it just for money.

Why Veterinay ?

As you may have I have lived my whole life surrounded by animals and I love it, and I have always wanted to veterinary medicine as my profession. Although my family preferred that I study something else because veterinary according to many people is collapsing and I have to think in my future, that means money, family, happiness... But I kept my decision and choose this career.

The person who helped me to take my decision was my mom, because she studied veterinary to and specialized in horses and I always loved see her helping that beautiful animals. But what most impresses me to this day is see the passion and joy with which she does its job.

Was that example, that made me feel sure that thas is what I want for my future.

Now that I´m the career I can say that I love it, despite is not an easy career, maybe because we have to study different animals and their respective characteristics.
